We then turn our attentions over to a familiar opponent as the ODU Monarchs prepare for another trip to Blacksburg on Saturday. The Hokies seem to have revenge in mind as they look to erase the memory of the drubbing they took at the hands of the Monarchs less than a year ago, a loss that inadvertently put Virginia Tech in the driver's seat to hire James Franklin.

Our long national nightmare is over. It is officially Week 1 and the Hokies kick off their 2026 season at home against FCS opponent VMI. The Hokies were able to prevail in a wild back and forth contest in Lane Stadium on Friday night, taking down the Golden Bears in 2OT with a final score of 42-34. We Tell the Truth about a fun but chaotic game in Blacksburg. We then turn our attention to Louisville as we get to Know the Enemy ahead of Saturday's 3PM home tilt. The Hokies come off a much needed bye week geared up to host the 5-2 Cal Golden Bears. With the schedule only getting tougher in November, Virginia Tech will need to take care of business in Lane Stadium on Friday if they hope to add to their win total in 2025. Spring is in the air and a large contingent of Hokie faithful are set to make the trek to Blacksburg for the annual Orange and Maroon Spring Game. This iteration brings a little more intrigue than previous years as we get our first real look at what the Hokies will look like on both sides of the ball under new coordinators Philip Montgomery and Sam Siefkes. We invite our good buddy Coach Robbie Compton, fresh off his trip to Blacksburg for the Hokies High School Coaches Chalk Talk, to give us his assessment of how these new schemes might fit our personnel.

The Hokies hobbled out of Durham worse than they hobbled in after suffering a 31-28 loss that put another signal caller on the shelf. Pop Watson played as well as could be expected but VT was doomed by leaky OL play and a defense that gave up too many big plays. In a familiar sight for anyone who has watched this team the last decade plus the Hokies must now retain the Commonwealth Cup if they hope to extend their season with a bowl bid. Buckle up...this one could get ugly.

The Hokies come off a bye licking their wounds after suffering back to back losses, including an embarrassing offensive effort against Clemson. We welcome on our friend Ben Byrd at Bull City Coordinators to preview what we can expect the Blue Devils to bring to the table in Durham on Saturday. We then take a look at the College Football Playoff Picture before making our Big Screeners picks of the week.

The Hokies folded late in the JMA Dome against Syracuse to fall to a disappointing 5-4 and now wait to host a Clemson team coming off their own disappointment at home against Louisville. We get to Know the Enemy in the visiting Tigers before we circle back to Tell the Truth about a game that may have been a tipping point for many in Hokie Nation.
