2:47 I I had to talk to these guys. I said we we can't tell the truth because I think tell the truth is going to take a little while tonight. I'm just being dead serious. I don't think we're going to be here for four or five minutes doing Tell the Truth on each section because we got a shit ton to unload about what's going on with the program right now. So we are going to start kind of out of routine. We're going to start with Know the Enemy. We need to talk about Clemson real quick because that game is Saturday at 3:30 at Lane Stadium. So we're going to jump into that right now. We're going to talk a little bit about their players. Brian did some tape review. Let's start with the offense. Brian led by Garrett Riley, obviously from the Riley family of offense. What's he running and what what are we looking to see Saturday on at 3:30?

3:39 Yeah, looking at their offense, I mean this is the fast-paced kind of run. First Air Raid esque system emphasizes aggressive play calls. They run a lot of 11 personnel and they have a a really big focus on kind of establishing that run so they can get really aggressive with their with their past play calls. All right, and obviously led by you know four and five star quarterback Cade Clubnick got off in Texas. Solid number so far this year with Clubnick. If y'all haven't seen, you know, 21 touchdowns, 3 picks well over 65 or just over 65% completion right at 2000 yards.

4:21 And if you look at his Russian numbers, like this is not like Kyle fucking McCord last week. Cade's got some wheels. Y'all seen it. He averages about five times every time he takes off. So what? What else do we see from him, Brian? And then guys, anything y'all want to chime in with after Brian gives his little breakdown? Yeah. I mean, looking at Cade, man, he's a yeah, he definitely dual threat, kind of a pass first dual threat quarterback, has that gunslinger mentality. So we'll sling it in the similar way we saw with McCord last week, but definitely has more of a threat to take off in the running game then then what we saw from McCord in Syracuse. This is a guy that can make all the throws, does really well with with slinging the football around, can make some things a little bit off platform as well. Probably not as bread and butter, but definitely not a not a weakness either.

5:13 He progresses through those reads pretty well, especially for, you know, Mark, marginally experienced collegiate quarterback at this point. But you know, thinking about gunslinger mentality, he can't force throws, especially when he's under duress and especially when he's kind of out there big play hunting. Like a lot of times he'll try to make the big play instead of the right play. Tally Sheldon anything on clubnet with y'all seen? I know y'all watch games. Sheldon, I know you probably looked at some data points. Yeah, PFF really likes him, you know, even more so than some of the overall efficiency metrics would suggest. Now why is that? I mean, I would say, you know a couple things pretty solid as a runner. So that's part of it.

5:57 Also his his turn around worthy play percentage is pretty low, less than 2%, which is pretty good. So he's avoided the disastrous, disastrous plays overall in the season for him, 21 to three touch interception ratio. So he's been pretty, pretty efficient with the football the entire season, really. Yep, same thing I was going to say. I mean, 21 touchdowns, 3 interceptions, you got to get some pressure on them. Definitely got to get some pressure on them, but the damn pain in the ass thing about them as y'all seen is they've got a damn good running game as well. If y'all hadn't seen Phil Moffa, Phil again, Clemson somehow still recruiting at a high level. Y'all like I was telling them, how did they lose to Louisville? I'm trying to figure this out because every single time I'm looking up guys and ratings, top 25 player, top 50 player, top 200 player.

6:55 Oh, he's one of the low ones. He's top 300. How did they lose to a Louisville team at home? But let's talk about Mafa. He was a top 200 player, 4 star guy already this year. You know, well over 800 yards, probably well on his way to 1000 yards, just about 6 1/2 a carry. Brian, what else are you seeing from him? Because he's a big boy at that. Yeah, he's a bruiser between the tackles, man. You know, kind of a little bit similar to tune in terms of after, after contact, really good after contact, good vision between the tackles. And you know, honestly, when we look at our defense kind of areas that we've struggled, that's where he's good in between the tackles, you know, turning some some plays that should be a one or two yard gain into those 8 or 10 yard gains, keeping the sticks moving. I'd call him an above average receiver out of the backfield. He's not great, but he's definitely serviceable in that capacity.

7:58 Probably the only weakness in this game. He kind of lacks super high top end speed and he's not really that elusive in the open field. So, you know, he's not necessarily a home run threat, but he's a guy that's going to just grind you out the whole game. Sally Shelton. Anything y'all seen from him watching or nothing? Nothing. Right. Right now we trying to hold emotions in y'all, because if once they explode in a little while here, it ain't no going back. That's why I knew we couldn't do this later, because once the motions exploded and they are going to explode. All right, Brian, I looked at the wide receiver room. They don't have that stand out person.

8:40 So for so many years Clemson always had to stood out person, whether it was Hopkins, you know, whether it was Sammy Watkins either the years where was Hunter Renfro? You knew Hunter Renfro was like that guy. So you looked at the tape, who really popped to you over the when you were reviewing the bat, the tapes there? So looking at what they're doing, looking at kind of what's hurt us a lot, My eyes kind of went a little bit of different way here. So there's no real wide receiver that's jumping out there. But stat wise, play wise, they're kind of just guys in, in my opinion, it's it's it's kind of riding the hot hand. But in terms of looking at what it's kind of hurt our defense a lot this year.

9:24 I looked at Jake Brenningstool tight ends have really given us fits, especially on those kind of plays that have kept the sticks moving, kept the defense on the field for longer than we like. So he's a guy that catches the ball well, blocks well, they use him as a decoy. He can do a little bit of everything that you want from a tight end from a passing game perspective. So he's he's a guy that, you know, he may not go out there and, and, and catch for, you know, 80 plus yards, but he could be a guy that burns us on a a handful of key first downs that keeps them on the field. And obviously that's been a kind of an issue kind of all year in the the the losses is extending drives like a drive should be dead gone.

10:09 They should be putting the ball. And obviously that that does worry Sheldon Valley. Anything on Jake or any of the receiving threats? Yeah, 4 star. You know how 4 star low five star guy to tidy in? He's very good. You know, if they do anything well, they're kind of running that little dump play to them. We're going to have to, we're going to adjust really quickly because he can catch, he can move, he can run a 6/6, 2:50 somewhere around there. He's got experience because he's a senior, so we'll have our hands full. John, anything from you? Yeah, Brian Wesco ranks pretty highly. 17.5 average average yards per reception.

10:56 Only two TDs, but typically when you catch the ball it tends to go for a pretty big game. Yeah, I do see that. Only a couple touchdowns, but again, it's that over the top play and again with you have Mafa, you know, up front there, keep pounding you. I know somebody threw it in there about him getting better. It usually is the same with the big guys that always goes like that. All right, let's flip over. Let's hit a little bit of their defense led by Wes Goodwin, who I was reading after he got torched last week. He might be getting fired. I know Dabo don't like firing his people, but what's goodwill maybe getting fired in a few weeks here if you don't get crap together, probably by the end, if they lose South Carolina, he's gone. He's gone.

11:37 I'll say that they lose South Carolina. But Brian, what's he running and and what are they? What is their big philosophy on the defensive side of the ball? Yeah. I mean, it's a, it's a hybrid 43 defense. I mean, we're kind of looking at something we're very familiar with this week, emphasis on stopping the run, letting that defensive line pin their ears back in those early, those late downs once they get you off the off the schedule there. So that's really their game plan. They've got a bunch of horses up front that can really do that very well. And I'm sure we're going to talk about them here shortly. Yeah, we are going to talk about them because that was the first thing like when I looked at where their their their run stop was and I started looking at the horses up front Demonte, Capehart, Peyton Page just jumped off And the first of all super high ranked guys when they came out one in 2020 with Capehart, 2021 Peyton Page, if that name sounds familiar, he's from down in Greensboro. I do believe for a while the Hokies were in the mix for Paige.

12:42 Tally, you're more the expert on that. But I feel like we were in the mix for Paige for a little while coming out of Greensboro. Obviously didn't land in both those guys. You know, top 247 players, Capehart effectively basically a top 50 player, a top 10 defensive tackle and tally. They ain't small by any means, are they? No, Heck no. And you got size all across the board. You know, even when you feel like Clemson's having a down year, they still have talent all over the field. So when you talk about all these high-ranking guys, they're high-ranking for a reason. I think NIL has spread it some of the wealth out with some players and transfers and stuff.

13:25 But schools like Clemson are still going to be really talented, really talented schools, and you have to out coach them to beat them. Brian, what did you see on both these guys? You know, where are they playing as far as is one of three tech or we got a shade one eye. What, what are what are we seeing from these guys from your tape observations? Yeah, when we look at at the tape, the more traditional 3 technique is going to be Peyton, Paige. He's a lot more comfortable with that position. They will kind of move these guys around a little bit, but he's definitely more comfortable. 3 technique, you know, Speaking of Paige in particular, technician, high motor, really good, good quickness at the snap of the football.

14:08 Probably when you look at at weaknesses, probably a little underpowered for an interior guy. He's he's got what you would call a weight room strength, but it doesn't always translate onto the field like you would like it to see. So you kind of get can get caught up hand fighting instead of shedding kind of in the interior there. But he's definitely more the the three technique. When we look at we look at Cape art, kind of the opposite, exceptionally strong at the point of attack. I mean this dude is strength personified but still has great athleticism for that size. Plays with good leverage, really good at shedding those blocks. Probably the only thing that he struggles with is, you know, pad level. Playing a little bit too tall in the middle there. All right.

14:57 And there was one other guy. Golly, I lost his name. I thought I had it wrote down. They did have another pretty big guy. Occasionally they'll line up at the end. If I find it, I'll get it to you. But I want to talk about the edge because obviously we know there's a problem. People already putting it in the chat and everything. TJ Parker is obviously their big stud, there is no doubt. And that's fine. You got one stud, it's OK, but you can do things. But Brian, you know, Tally, why don't you talk on TJ Parker for in a second here because he comes from down your way. But we got TJ.

15:38 We know he's all world huge recruit tallies. Don't break that info down in a second. But who's the other guy that may give us some problems Saturday? Peter Woods man, still a young guy, kind of a tweener. D tackle DN they they line him up a little bit of everywhere, but he's a guy that they played a lot more at D in this year. Quick off the snap, can bend the edge surprisingly well and has incredible stamina for a bigger guy. And you know, also for a bigger guy, great motor and violent hands. So he's he's a bigger in he's not going to be a guy that's going to go out there and just absolutely, you know, speed rush you off the edge.

16:23 But he's got a lot of lot of tools out there. And like I said, he's got that position flexibility where they can slide him inside when they need to. Tally, What about TJ Parker, man? I mean, he is from down in Alabama. Is that a name that you are familiar with? You know, before he even got to Clemson? Oh, yeah, TJ Parker is, I think we talked about somebody last week from from Phoenix City is where he's from, Central, Central, Phoenix City High School, always a powerhouse. I mean, they've got many, many state championships. They play in the biggest division in Alabama. Very, very talented play. I mean, he had offers from everywhere. I think he kind of got down to Penn State and Clemson and Alabama or something like that.

17:10 So Uber talented guy, you know, great, great body size, was a monster in high school. You know, just you see it all over there, you see it all over their their their roster, you know what I'm saying? But also what you see over their roster is that they're very beatable. You know, with them having these talented guys, they're they're a beatable team. But you know, just staying on on TJTJ Parker is a is a handful to deal with. You know, he's a he's a great player and very highly ranked out of high school. Like I said, another five star, four-star high 4 star, if you want to say, but may have been like a 98 somewhere around there.

17:52 So very talented kid and you have to you have to coach the beat the beat defenses like that. I mean, that's all I can say. But he's he's, he's going to be a handful. And real quick and somebody put this put up James's in thing because yeah, I didn't get a chance up. But yeah, that was a good point. Yeah, yeah. We may not see. Cape No no, Officially ruled out. Officially ruled out. Officially ruled out. Sorry y'all. We occasionally go to work and occasionally we don't get to listen to everything and read everything. And I got Swanwood work when I got home. All the kids were here with me. So yeah, if you hear them in the background, I'm sorry. Yeah. It was announced in Dabos presser earlier today that Capehart will not play this week. That is a huge loss for them, potentially a huge win for the Hokies in that sense.

18:41 So you might see. A lot of Williams you might see a lot of. Williams. Woods maybe sliding inside. Yeah, so there you go. There you go. Making Chris laugh out here. That's a good thing. I as always, it it's Clemson. I won't say it Tally, but you know it who who's the white blue kid? Because, you know, they got one and they're the white blue kid. Man, I mean, the quarterback, whoever, a linebacker, and they got plenty of them. This, this going to come in and they're going to play hard. And again, I, I honestly, I looked at hardly no Clemson players because whoever lines up on the field against us, it doesn't matter. It does not matter because we can play with the best of teams and we can play down with the worst of teams. But it's going to start with us and how we handle things, which is what we're going to talk about a little later. Oh yeah, and it's fastly approaching. But Brian, I know Woody Wood is, is one of them. He is the white glue guy, but they got another glue guy out there as well that you liked on tape. Yeah, I mean, it starts and ends of Barrett Carter, man. Exceptional athleticism, really good change of direction, sideline to sideline type.

20:00 Linebacker can do a little bit of everything. Good against the run, pretty good in pass coverage. Good Blitzer, high football IQ guy. Looking at him probably a bit undersized, which kind of even, you know, feeds more into the glue guy aspect of of his game there probably the biggest weaknesses that he will occasionally miss some run fits here and there. But in terms of athleticism and and just overall ability, he's the guy that kind of holds everything together on that defensive side. All right, Sheldon, you said you had a couple things you want to throw in here about the defense. Well, yeah, and the team is all so Clemson is not elite at anyone particular thing, but they're very well-rounded.

20:43 So you know, they rank, you know, mid 20s, high 30s and pretty much all of the big advanced statistical categories, defense, EPA per rush allowed, 32nd per drop back 31st. You know, they're top 35 in EPA per rush and drop back on offense as well. So success rate's pretty good too. So just a pretty well-rounded team. They're not bad at anything. The one set that stands out to me is they lead the country in rush rate below expectations. So in other words, they pass the ball more frequently than you would expect based on down a distance. So they're going to sling the ball around the yard pretty much the whole game. So it's going to obviously put a lot of stress on Tech's corners, certainly linebackers, the safeties.

21:26 So we'll see how that goes. But I would say overall, just just a solid team that does everything pretty well, just not necessarily a lead at one particular thing. All righty so there it is. I told y'all we were going to get through this quick. Ain't as usual where we get a lot more looking at people. Y'all know Tally? I love Tally because Tally will come down sneaky and go watch the extra game film and then pop in with a couple numbers. It won't going to be that way this week. It just won't. So as y'all know. It's a couple reasons. It's a couple reasons. For them, oh, it is number. One, I think not a lot of people need to know who Clemson is. Right. So I mean, we kind of know who they are.

22:08 We see them, they get kind of plastered up on any key ACC Game of the week, national media covers them. If you're just casually listening to ESPN or Fox or any of those, you're going to get a decent idea of who the guys are for Clemson. The other reason is what happened on Saturday to the Hokies and how we wanted to give all of us are tell the truth a little bit more room to breathe this week, if you will. Virginia Tech has lost four games by less than one score. I think it's a total combined. Is it 21 four games by 21.22 points? It's 21 because it was 774 and 3:00 and we got to start talking about Coach Fry. We got to start doing a lot of stuff so right now this is how we're going to start.

Do it iron. Man, put pull the mask down. On a scale of one to 10, one being all in, 10 being completely out, Where are you on coach Brent Pry as it stands? Remember, Remember the No 5th of November? 10 being all out, 10 being. Completely out. Without explanation explanation right now I would probably say seven. OK, 7 for me.

You guys call that out? I think Shelton was about an 8.7 on Saturday. I was at like a 65. I'm now at A5, Brian. I'd say 5, five and a half. Give me 5 1/2. Give you 5 1/2. He just wants to be slightly above me. I'm the I'm the. I got to be the one on the low end of the. Total no, because I mean what I what I'm basically saying with my 5 1/2 is that I'm I'm no longer in, but I'm also not out. I'm I'm I'm in the middle, I'm in the middle. So let's go with it.

It's not going to be pretty, but tally go man, because obviously I got some stuff, stuff we're going to talk about. But what is now like? What is your hot button issue? Well, we were talking about this. Everybody wants to know why I got the Iron mask, man, Iron Man mask on. I'm just, I'm just here to learn. So Sheldon, actually, I'm going to talk to him and let him start this thing off because I think he's going to get me riled up because he's going to come with some interesting stuff from the presser.

25:45 I watched it and from the game as well, but I'm going to sit back and relax for a few minutes. Hey, Chris, right there with me. I love that. What? Up, guys. All right. Let Sheldon go. Fire away. All right, folks. Well, the time has come to start. The Brent Pride discourse feels like a recurring theme every week that there's some type of game or clock management issue. And we saw more of that on Saturday against Syracuse. So in the wake of, you know, obviously the discourse is about, you know, not taking time out, letting the defense, letting the offense to Syracuse run the clock out at the end of the at the end of regulation, you know, deciding to go defense 1st and overtime, you know, people can have their opinions one by the other. But for me, there was there was one thing in particular that stick out.

26:34 And I think there was a tremendous lack of clarity that we had in price of, you know, post game comments and his comments in a press conference afterwards today on Tuesday about what his his thought process was. So first of all, Coach Pry, if you're listening, if your family's listening, I love you brother, but I got to call you out because there was some BS that went on these past few days. So to start off, you know, Pride decided not to take that time out to prevent the runoff at the end of the first half when Tech, you know, potentially was getting towards field goal range. After the game he said the communication with the refs was unclear, but appears that he changed his story a couple times. So to the post game radio people, he said he chose not to take the time out to prevent the runoff. Why he did that, I don't know.

27:20 Maybe he's getting some bad advice from someone in his ear. Possibly. That seems like a likely scenario, but after the game in the in the official post game press conference, he said he did not trust the field goal unit that had leaky protection in order to be able to even bother him to make a field goal. Now why he would say that when Jon Love has already hit multiple 50 yards before in this season, I do not know, but he changed his story there so that's one. OK, so to me this looks like he's covering for poor decision making. All right now regarding the poor communication with the officials, I think this is on pry. I know the official can sometimes make mistakes and they don't explain things concise in the right way.

28:05 But if you as a head coach are not getting in their ass and demanding that they give you a a reasonable explanation, you are not doing your job. I don't think pry, I don't think pry right now has the, the, the acumen that we need of a head coach to really get in their ass and demand that they give him a response. Which it, it just seemed like to me like he was content with everything that happened. He had a little conversation that was nice and polite. Maybe, you know, his, his eyebrows got a little bit furred, but he, he was not responding to the level of intensity that I think he needed to as a head coach. So we go now to the Tuesday presser. He said in the presser that there was no clarity in the moments with regards to the officials and their explanation.

28:47 But he also said he did not submit that place to the conference office for review. Why would you not submit the play for review if you didn't get clarity? That does not make any sense. If you weren't, if if you felt the explanation was insufficient, if you thought the refs made a mistake, maybe not giving you the time Outback, why would you not submit that play? That to me screams that he's just doing cover. He's doing cover because he knows he made a mistake and he doesn't want to admit that he doesn't want people he wasn't. He doesn't want to throw himself under the bus or maybe the people that are giving advice under the bus. And then lastly on this, he also said today, quote, we have to be the aggressor. We have to be on the attack. In that situation, then why didn't you attack? Why did you not go down field?

29:29 Why did you not take a time out when Syracuse was on their last possession of regulation save some time? Why did you not go down the field in that last drive with Colin Schleade, 29 seconds left, three timeouts. Why were you not the aggressor you needed? 40 yards. You needed 40 yards. Needed 40. Yards got the boot. Yep, and he was not the aggressor. So again, just a complete but contradiction, a series of contradictions statements that didn't make sense. I think prize didn't cover. I think he knows he made another gaffe and he obviously doesn't want to admit that to the fans, which has been obviously recurring theme. So just really disappointing with how you know, he articulate that to the fan base. Again, I love your pride, but that's just I just don't like it, man.

30:11 I think it's, I think it's a bad look. Tally. Man, it's hard to follow that, but I needed it. I mean, he made it sound elegant to like he did a great job to explain a lot of the stuff and go through everything after the game. You know, that kind of we're feeling and it's the team takes the identity of the coach, you know what I'm saying? Like we coach too soft, we're playing too soft at certain times. It's the same thing. It's a broken record. Like if you were 50, if you were A500, you know, coach and A500 coach in, you know, close games, then maybe I would ease up a little bit.

30:58 But you can't be like one in 12 or one in 11 and then you come with the same coach speak like it gets old, man. And again, like Sheldon said, like I love Pride. I think Pride's a good guy, you know, I think he's a pretty decent coach, you know what I'm saying? But sometimes coaches just don't fit. And again, I'm not saying that I'm all out. It's going to take some things in. I know we'll discuss it a little bit here in a minute. But it takes some things to to change to have to really see change. You know, and I think right now we're just hearing the same the same old stuff. You know, this just well, we got to get better. Well, how do you get better? You know what I'm saying? If you going to, I would rather him walk in and say I ain't fucking talking to nobody today. I'm upset.

31:42 Find me. The rest fucked us. I don't want to have a conversation with nobody. Everybody get out. I don't care if you come watching that. Like I want you to just be mad and get up, like change everything that you're doing because the nice polite, you know, coaching and on the field, it's just it's old, man. It's old and fans are tired of watching the same stuff, you know, blow leads, lose by three points, lose by 6 points, and then we hear the same thing afterwards. The players are tired of losing. You know, the players, they're playing their butts off. I got to give them the, you know, nobody, everybody knows that this team doesn't quit, you know what I'm saying? Everybody understands that. But that gets, you know, kudos.

32:26 Like you got to, you got to get to a point where you're not just, well, shoot, I know we play Virginia Tech, man, we going to be beat up, but we going to win, you know what I'm saying? Like we're that team, the team that we think other people are. That's who we are. However, Virginia Tech fans look at a team like Georgia Tech. Well, we know Georgia Tech is going to give us a good game. That's what people think about us. That's what we are. That's that we that team. When you go through at the beginning of the season and you're looking at where you going to get your wins and losses, people's looking at Vt and saying that's a dub easy. No matter what we play them at, if we play them at they house, if we play them at our house, that's on coaching.

Coach hasn't really seen an elite recruit, but also has done a really good job of developing the guys that he's brought in kind of in that high three star, you know, low 4 area there. And to Sheldon's point, I think Bowen, the biggest complaint I have about Bowen is kind of what we've already talked about is when, when the chips are down, when when we start getting into those moments where we can stomp on a, on a, on a throat. We don't always do that.

I think they've stagnated.
