He's the man, we got things going on. You're traveling, we got forts going on with kiddos. You got cool wrapping up. Clearly you look at my face, I spent time at the pool this weekend. I got a little tan. You're going on. I'm not even not do that. I did get a couple bike rides in. So bite me when you did my car that if you also power washed Which is probably why I have a terrible time if they good on you man. You did more yard with metadata had to be done. I mean, you know, there's a few places you look around. It's like, okay, we got to do this. And it's if you commit to doing it's like six hours, right? See it like dinner time?

And let's talk with let's start with big news of the day and let's talk basketball with Justin mutts announcing he will be returning. Yeah, that's big news guys that really you know we had been hoping that we were going to get that word for our own sake. You know, obviously I know, Justin was exploring. Yes, potential draft prospects there, but I think he knows that we're glad to have him back and we're glad that he's running it back for another year with this hokey team.

2:34 And when we look at this hokey team now with what, Mike young has been able to do in the offseason between the recruiting class and some of the transfer portal. Pickups this is a pretty, pretty strong, not only starting five, but probably the eight or nine main rotation that we're looking at for the 2223 season coming up. Oh, for sure. I mean, so let's let's let's just talk about it. When we were talking about it earlier today at starting five. Center power forward, you know the transfer Grant the seal yep we feel right. I think so. I think that's going to be the essentially a Luma 2.0 in some ways.

3:18 I think you know there's a couple parts of the seals game that may be a little stronger than aluminum. A couple that might not quite be as polished. At least it we're we're a little was at this time last year but I think overall that was a good Plug and Play pick up in the portal. Obviously, getting months back, that's huge. Huge group, huge for leadership, huge group, home court, play the matchups. He creates what he can do, especially passing out of the pose to guys. Like, another really good leader Hunter Couture. Yeah, you got, you got Couture and then I'll obviously we got Maddox back there as well. Both of those winged guys. Both can shoot the three well if you see Maddux, develop a little With his defense and his handle, he's going to be a big-time offensive threat.

4:08 Yes. So I'm looking forward to see what he can do with that. And then obviously, we got John Padula, running the point. Yes, and as much as we can all love. Shown love, storm, Murphy comes calling, Sean Murphy storm, Murphy. He was a good point guard, but that was the one element He was missing, was the be able to create and There was at times last year, you saw pedulla. Come on. And there were times he could create not every single possession. He doesn't have that skill level because if he had that skill level, he would probably already have played with your college and already being the pros. But to have him running the point where, you know, occasionally he can just go, right, you just go create his own shot. You know, I know there were there's there's a lot of concerns about is there anybody behind them? But I think between Maddox Couture him in Rodney rice was, but shout out the combo guard.

5:07 Rodney rice one of the highest recruit ever signed, you know, top 65 player for Star, little handle with him to get, you know, I think we'll be okay at point guard. I think, obviously, It's like somebody said it today and I wish I could remember who it was. So if you said it in some of the chats where in and more you said it on Twitter not trying to steal them just like the point of it's just like the NBA usually, whoever your backup point guard. Is you're not doing the same things, you are with your start. Yeah, I think that's the big thing especially with Rowdy rice because that's going to give him some time to do what he does. Well right now out the gate.

5:57 Yep. And as he develops, some of those, those finer skills that he's going to be going to need to take over that more full-fledged starting role sometime in the future for the Hokies. Whether that be on the floor, at the same time at the two guard or whether that be, you know, being a true combo and running the point. Point for a good portion of the game. I don't think it might kind of system that there is a great need for a capital P. Capital, G point guard sure, it's definitely not that type of system. So you having a guy like, like Rowdy rice is definitely kind of a very good fit for this type of system. Yep.

6:39 And then, two guys, we mentioned that earlier, you know, in the year about the transfers with Poteet in Camden. I mean, obviously, Sleep OT. It's going to give you that again your Center Off the Bench who has played significant minutes. You had some good size and then cannons kind of the unknown and Kim and become that extra wing. And if he becomes that extra Wing, you feel like you got Couture Mattox, and him, then you've got Maddux could do Le and rice. And then the Poteet Basile mutts and hopefully Camden kind of coming that piece where you can maybe play a three wing. You know, you take months out to get A breather you play Basile Camden Couture Maddox.

7:21 You play like a three wing type you know, offensive game. Yeah so it's I said this earlier and I'll say it again. I want to temper expectations early because I think what's got to happen is similar to last year. You've got to figure out where the new pieces fit obviously. When we figured out how they fit, what happened is, what happened? But before that, you know, what did you say? You think we're you feel like where we were last year is where you think we should start this year, right? I think the expectations we had pre season last year is where they need to start this year.

8:06 I think this is a top-to-bottom, a deeper team than last year. I think it is going to take a little bit of time for it to jail. So I think the expectations at the start of last season, we're probably a little high. Higher than they should have been, considering what we had to do in the backcourt, in terms of kind of kind of figuring out those rotations. I think it's probably going to be a little bit of figuring out those rotations, especially in the frontcourt this year, as we replace two-thirds of that. And I think it's going to take some time to find those, but I like the versatility of the line of you can go bigger.

8:48 You can go smaller and then you can go Wing heavy. So you get a little bit of everything, right? I like that, there is those matchups. We can really work, matchups, depending on The opponent's strengths and weaknesses. There's some, there's some teams and we're going to play We're Poteet. Might be the, the guy, the first guy to start might be. This might be the the center you want out there, but there's going to be, I'd say the majority of the games, the seal is going to get the majority of those minutes. I agree. But I get I like the versatility that this gives us because everybody off the bench has some degree of proven caliber play. And that's what we didn't have last year at the start of the Season proven caliber play.

So, you know, when they come in, they give you something versus like you said. Last year, it was the unknown of. What are they going to give us one other piece. The basketball news that broke the saint confirmed. He's going to Kansas State. I don't know if this was Is a direct move in relation to months coming back. If months doesn't come back, does this? This on return? But best of luck to him going to a pretty solid program out in case state so that will wrap up the basketball segment.

You know, after the regional weekend, where they went three games in 24 hours, which was unbelievable. You know, being Kentucky, be Miami of Ohio late night into Sunday morning and then back to back against Kentucky. You know, the fuel was rocking. The place was rocking our hotel, girl had herself a weekend. And he did have a weekend, shout-out. Mackenzie Lauder and then the Florida Gators role in town. And essentially a, you know, top ten Team all year. They got ranked 12th in the couple to filing polls Friday night early, Saturday morning started off great, Hokies went six nothing but from there it didn't, you know, ends in heartbreak losing.

11:13 Subsequently was a decent, start to gain to a couple missed opportunities, a couple things. Didn't quite go, the Hokies way, and then Florida capitalized and closed out the game too. And it felt That was that was the switch, right? Like, yeah, the way the game to kind of ended it was, was foretelling of how the game on Sunday was going to roll, right. I mean, so many times you see that in in all sports, I mean in all sports. You see it's the old, the old Avalanche effect, it starts and then all of a sudden it tumbles. But for the program in general Hello season.

11:55 You know, in the season, ranked top five Why do a lot of top? Eight teams. We're losing. Not making it to Oklahoma City. For the World Series in, you know what, what, what what's really good in my opinion yet? We're losing killing right? She's an All-American, you know, years ago and I cannot think who was it? Another All-American picture. Why is it blinking on me? You don't get that kind of all every year. Now, what I will say is my opinion, is this Emma.

12:39 Emma has a chance to be to get up in that upper echelon. Could you could she be he? Richard I can't put that on but I think you've got your number one going into next year. Where I don't think it's going to be a slip from top five to completely out. I think this team is going to be a top 20 team next year. Yeah, yeah, it's definitely, that gives you some some promise for what's going on in the future. It's going to be nice to see how Emma develops. Going into next year, especially with somewhat of a leadership role probably put on her heading into next year, so, but I don't think you see a steep ramp up with you. I think it's going to be, you know, a step back. I think it would be hard, not to say that there will be some step back, I think losing healing in particular. Just because of, you know how shut down. She was from Canada, season isn't really the majority of less your 23 years.

13:40 Look at it that I think there's going to be potentially some step back especially early in the season but I think it's going to be alright I think I think they're going to still be a competitive team next year and looking forward to seeing what they do. Again for bringing with me, let's roll from the softball Diamond to the baseball diamond because after big Series wins against Louisville against Duke to close out the regular season, they lose in pool play, in the ACC tournament to eventual Champion care. Carolina, I don't like pool play format. I'll say that. Because it, if you're one of the best four teams, it gives, there's nothing there to be game where in reality, probably what should happen and I'm harping on this, I didn't mention you this earlier I was going to do it in reality. The top four seeds should be waiting for Friday night. And everybody else have to play to get there. And then you go from 8 to 4 to 2 and there's your championship game.

14:39 Not this, we're going to pull play, no, you want to pull play the other eight teams and let them figure out who can win, do it. If you're one of the best four teams in the ACC, you should be sitting Friday night with your one ready to play. Yeah, I agree. I agree. I think it's not the best format. You know that I'm a big believer in the format that you play in the regular season should be the format that kind of goes in the postseason. But we talked about that a lot with the email be wild card. And yes, I hate the fucking play in games.

But you should have more Advantage as a top for see than, just the tiebreaker in the pool. Yeah, that's yeah. Because it's two games. Yeah. It's two games and usually, they're starting midweek. So, if you're throwing your one, you're throwing your one on a short rest for them. So, you know, just get rid of that format top for because, you know, not everybody makes it their team's always left out because there's 12 teams.

Number four, seed in the country. From where this baseball program was just a few years ago, to be a national seed to have a Blacksburg Regional potential, Super Regional. I mean, it's the right guy was hired with makes another fantastic move. And I mean in the world of baseball, the collegiate baseball, if you can consistently get top aides, you are a national powerhouse.

16:47 It's a question. Yeah. And I mean, this is very much the, you know, like the 2004 football team. This team was not know, expected to do a whole lot. I think they were picked to finish what next to last or last next-to-last ACC. And here we are. You had the best team in the regular season you had had. It had a decent little run there in the championship and finished up with the horsey for the region. So I don't really think anybody could have expected more out of this team and they really stepped up and shown that, you know what? They've got going on there. That the kind of the mix of players that they have and the guys are bringing in, he is starting to turn to clip a little bit, especially if they can get you. Some steps up and pitching.

17:38 If the pitching can be consistent. I mean, the way, the way, the way they knock the ball out of the park is just next level. And I think they got a fairly favorable draw in their region, release compared to some of the other ones out there. So Yeah. What are you? What's your thoughts on this pool of? Well, for the region will write State. We've already played this year and so we seeing what they have, I'll have to pull up real quick. That record Colombia is obviously the Ivy League school representation in and I don't want to not those two teams because they did win their conference.

That is your big problem because Gonzaga legitimately has an ace and they are really good pitching team, you know, under for totally are a for the whole team and they're led by a guy by the name of Gabriel Hughes and Hughes has a mid-90s guy with a, the reports are mid 90s guy with a strikeout slider in with a changeup that runs at about 79. He is intentionally and they're looking at in the Pro comparison with Max Scherzer.

19:09 Prediction is likely a top-15 pick, he's 64, he's 230 pounds. His biggest issue was control. He's got his control under wraps in that shows this season where he struck out 131 and he walked 35. Okay, so, so yeah, he wrote the consistency level there, but here's the deal. In all likelihood, this team will not see Gabriel Hughes because in the world of baseball you roll the biggest dice.

Deep Run was playing Highland Springs, VA, 89 yang. Deep Run, chose not to throw their number one and apparently this kids really good like going somewhere to play college because they were like we need him for when we play the wannsee. Guess what happened? They lost to Highland Springs. They never got to throw their eggs. So we probably won't see Gabriel cues but we likely you're probably going to see a guy by the name of Owen wild. Aiden 13.3 are a if they win Friday. That's who we're probably going to look at Saturday but we seen this team.

They're running team, then they've attempted less steals than the Hokies Hokies what are the Hokies at steel? Was you have that they're right.

So they're not one of those teams that is getting on base and trying to run you and a lot of hit-and-runs clearly. So this, this isn't small bowl. No. Just, they are what they are. They are pitching team and Not seeing Hughes if they choose not to if they choose to you know throw him Friday which they should you know it's a hurdle to overcome and would you say Brian five?

22:20 If we score more than five runs a game than they are. That's why I thought if we can get 67 runs that should do it. And we're averaging over 80 close to eight runs a game. Yeah. So if we can just get our average you should be able to handle them pretty well. Also, I can't wait to see the crowds out in Blacksburg the way they were with the softball team last weekend. Definitely going to be a rock and house for the baseball regionals there. You know it, I'm assuming. Do we have a TV time yet? For this one?

He was a member of the Virginia Tech football team at that point in time.

There was a lot of speculation out, the gate this time last year, honey. And some of it we weren't sure what was fact and what was fiction we wanted to wait until everything came out before we had any sort of meaningful Discussion on this thing. Yeah. And I think we found out a lot at the trial and I think that ultimately you know if the charge is murder to that the ultimate the jury had to find him not guilty based on the information.

Let's start by taking a look at a recent commitment. 2023 football, the on the top 25 somehow ranked 22nd right now in, just, a few days ago, the key, he thought of Highland Spring, then five foot nine hundred sixty five pounds, He's listed as an athlete, you know. Definitely going to look M at wideout probably Corner commit. He's a 3-star number 24 in Virginia. Would have you seen what have you heard and what do you think about mr.

30:40 Heath potential in Blackbird, he's an athlete with a capital. A you said wide receiver. You said corner but he's also going to be a return specialist for us. I believe. So look for some of that either out the gate or at least by year to being a contributor there. I think this is a good pick up obviously you know you want to tap that Highland Springs tap as Much as you can. So I like it, I like I like that. It's continuing the trend with getting solid players from reputable institutions in and around the state.

31:21 It's keeping that Trend going. It's still not a. You still haven't had that, you know, blow your skirt up yet. But at the same time, nothing but solid across the board. Yeah, I'm hoping that as we go into Camp season, which is what we're about to talk about a little bit more here. Once we get more into Camp season, we start seeing maybe at least one or two of those, you know, bigger fish. Start to start to come our way a little bit. But right now I'd say this is a good pickup, he's probably just below the hammer and and love it in my book in terms of where they stack up in this class. Yeah, I think it's a good pickup. In the state of Virginia in the 75 in Nova where we can sit back here and kind of say okay, yeah that's going to be the Breakthrough one and is it maybe even not a breakthrough?

Continuous Prospect, that's why it's nice to see the Highland Springs as why it's nice to see a DeMatha, yeah. I think the thing to do is keep your eyes on Phoebus and Oscar Smith, I think there's some potential for us to make some some headwinds there. I think it Phoebus, probably maybe there's a Target in this class and I think an Oscar Smith. There's a Target in this class and the next class that could potentially cause a little bit of a shift there. But I think when you talk about Richmond compared to Nova and 757.

33:43 I think we released with the last regime, sat better in Richmond, that we sat in 757 and Noble and I think I think the reputation of Virginia Tech was a lot more solid in the RV. A at the end of Wednesday's regime than it was in the 75 and Nova. I think this is just again price talked about building those bridges and repairing. Those things he had a lot more work to do with Nova and a lot more work to do in the 75 than the average Point. That's a day of the point to make. Because at the end of that regime, we were picking off some kids from Richmond to flip at the end. Look, the kid for it from a teleca, getting some 7, getting some Holland spring kids to walk in.

35:18 No limits. It's better than nothing. I would have, honestly preferred to have three to five more scholarships tacked, onto the 85 then, for the next two years to be unlimited. But in terms of how this affects us, I think we may not go over 25 in 23 big just because it is a rebuilding year. Yeah. We'll probably not sitting the best with some of the more higher caliber players are classes going to be mostly mid-to-high three stars. Anyway, it's not going to have a ton of four stars, but I think in 24 when we're under 85 really well at that point and we're starting to make some Headway in the state and around our footprint a little bit more where we're established. I think that's when you take a shot and load up as much in the boat.

36:10 As you can because, you know, you'll be able to get essentially all of those spores that you're targeting. And then all of those threes that are in that, you know, hiring three rains that you're targeting, then make some some business decisions on the back in with those mid to low three star kids. Yeah. Well the whole thing that this year, you say no the only way this year, you can get that bump is if you win. Like if you if you tell me if your tell me, you're thinking 67 wins, I think, with our schedule, we can get six and I think I think six is enough to roll into 24 with with a little bit of momentum. I go, mr.

37:00 Brightside. Let's say, print pride comes in and wins nine games, can he attacked when we attack 23 more, because then you're talking about, it's a regime change. It's a it is a coaching staff that can recruit better and you're coming out year one and winning nine games going to a solid Bowl. Obviously, if you're doing that their players producing on the field. Well, I guess the question is going to be, can you, is there going to be enough players left at the end of this cycle? Once you get Results on the board to really make some, some late season flips and if you are able to do that, is there enough that still keeps you under 85? Because more than likely we're going to use that one scholarship open that we have.

Maybe um because obviously you've already mentioned it, you know it we're June 1st, there's been no discussion of additional scholarships from the NCAA. We thought it would be like three to five just to help teens out, but it's not hurting teams. It's hurting kids, they're going to be a lot of kids that don't have don't have a home. They're basically screwing the student-athlete great job into a Screw student-athletes. That's what we're here for versus. If you give three to five, open scholarships to every team. What's that a minimum of 400 additional kids in the portal would find homes because they would find homes? Yes.

He double A decided to do is that they said, okay well we understand that the situation we put them in with the covid year and then having no relief is going To put pressure on the Freshman incoming classes, we're going to give them some relief. So most of freshmen that would have found homes. Normally are still going to find homes, but we're literally going to fuck anybody that wanted to give the portal. Yeah, that is in a high-caliber front, front end, immediate starter, at most power, 5, institution type player. Yeah, developmental players is where it's true. Yeah.

And a kid, every school would take a swing at three to five kids to get on their roster just to be like, he has potential. What if we're the guys that unlock it? They are so it's such an enough Institute. I don't want to go into a TWA continues to have their head up their own ass. Oh that's not that's not going to change until I see definitive proof. I'm going to completely continue to shit all over them. They are a awful governing body especially when it comes to the things that ironically make them the most money.

So I don't know how I feel like the rankings are paying attention to the roster even though they're saying they're not on their parenting to the roster and where they go.
